Internet Sex Crime Defense Attorney

The mere possession of child pornography can expose a person

to federal prosecution. Occasionally possession can be established with

something as simple as surfing the internet, although usually it takes more

than simply bouncing from site to site. More times than not the person charged

has created files to store his files, and this is where the federal agents

catch the majority of the people charged. Federal law prohibits both the

possession and distribution of internet child pornography.  Although many child pornography cases

involve the seizure of thousands of images and videos depicting children

explicitly situated, it is possible to be prosecuted for a very small quantity.

A young girl is in sitting in front of a computer monitor,

looking shocked. The biggest problem with being charged with possession of

child pornography is that there is never a justifiable reason to have such

material on your computer.  Once

the government has seized your computer, you are limited to two defenses.  The first one, it is not child

pornography and the second, it’s not mine.  But that is about it.

The attorneys at the Platten Law Office are familiar with defending

Federal possession of child pornography cases. We have developed relationships

with several experts that will examine the digital images, prepare reports with

recommended strategies and assist in the court room presentation of the case.

Internet cases are not exclusively handled by the federal

court. There are also many criminal charges that use the internet that are

handled by the local police in the State court.  A common State crime that is prevalent these days is

solicitation of a minor.

Solicitation is chatting on line with the victim in an effort to exploit

the child sexually. Once you have determine you are communicating with a minor

and scheduled a meeting for sex the crime has been completed. Many of these

cases are “sting operations” where the police are pretending to be a child that

is interested in ‘hooking” up with the adult.  Erick Platten has handled numerous State sex crimes that

involve the internet.
